THE SCIENTISTS’ LOVE AND EMBRACE OF LIFE. WILL POLITICAL, MILITARY AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS FOLLOW?

Why are we searching so frantically for the origins of life? Recently it has become clear that we are on the verge of discovering the origins of human life at the same time that we are getting closer and closer to a scientific view of the origins of existence as such. An account of human life’s origins took a step closer in recent discoveries from the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage site.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8609192.stm . It seems that something quite extraordinary happened between 1.8 and 2 million years ago, and we are here, with our thoughts, because of it. And recently, other scientists are gearing up to a full experiment on protons that will resemble the first moments of existence. http://www.todaysthv.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=102132&catid=2 .

Why do scientists go crazy searching for origins? Why do some of us search so hard for roots? It is curiosity, to be sure, but no one sacrifices everything just for curiosity. No, it is a love of life, an embrace of life so profound that you want to know everything, from the first moments. To thirst for knowledge of the first moments of life is to be in love with life. Especially when we know how brief our witness to it really is.

So as we move forward from the age of the scientist who became Death to scientists racing to become Life, the question is will the rest of us follow? Will politics and war change once we have a fuller picture of life itself, human life and existence itself. I don’t know, but I do hope that it has a maturing effect. I think it is possible but it will depend on our capacity to concentrate and focus.
